Who I am and what kind of music I play

My name is Sascha August. I was born in 1976 and grew up in Wesselburen in Schleswig-Holstein. I have lived in different places and cities in Schleswig-Holstein; in Neumünster, Kiel, Meldorf, Hehm, Ascheberg near Plön and now I live around Kiel.

I am a guitarist and singer. I write songs; songs. Mainly for guitar solo but also vocals and guitar as well as band arrangements. I write/text in Low German, High German, English and Spanish.

Artistic retrospect

I started playing the guitar when I was about 14 years old. I gained my first experiences in a small youth punk band, later in the cross over band „Tranquilizer“. With Tranquilizer we (Cross Over) mixed a funk rhythm section of drums, bass and funk guitar with two rappers and in addition there was a DJ who brought rhythm loops, sounds, scratches etc. to the start. We released 2 albums that we produced ourselves in rented studios. That was between 1994 and 1999.

Later I played in the Ton Steine Scherben cover band „Rio’s Reisen“ for about 2 years. 2004 to 2006

Founding of the band „Kausalautomat“ Progressive Funk Rock 2006 to 2012

Member of a trio (piano, violin, guitar) Balkan music 2013 to 2014

Solo with guitar and vocals as „Saeschman“ Singer/Songwriter 2014 to 2015.

Guitarist in the MayaMo Band Spanish Pop 2016 to 2021.

Currently I perform under my civil name Sascha August as well as with the band formation Saeschmangroup.

My music, my style

Now it gets complicated for me. My musical interests include classical, pop, rock, jazz, folk, funk, flamenco, hip-hop, blues, Zappa and so on and so forth. The many currents that exist and have existed in the musical world, the many great musicians are simply overwhelming, gigantic, and I do not want to, and cannot, commit myself to a genre. For me, the term „genre“ is without a doubt a marketing term of the 20th century from the music industry. It constricts, I think. Listen to my music and form your own opinion. I could also name many artists who have influenced me, but that would mean that I would have to text everything here, there are just too many. Every concert, all artists have an influence on me, always and continuously. I feel a deep love for all profound music, in the small, as in the big.
